| wedding photography New York style - passers by could mistake for a movie set |
So my latest inspiration for direction in my wedding photography is New York. Wedding photography here as I experienced on a recent research trip is at the forefront of style and innovation. On a saturday afternoon you will see the most glamorous couples recording their big day with super cool glamour and elegance. The New Yorkers take wedding photography to a new level. It is not uncommon to see a beautiful bride and groom with an entourage including photographer, 2nd and 3rd shooter, lighting assistants, stylist, and art director. Here is an example of a typical scene between poses during a NYC wedding shoot. A passer by would be forgiven for thinking that this is a movie set, but no this is just how seriously the brides take their wedding photography in the city that never sleeps. I aspire to include elements of this approach in my own style working in the UK. For me this shot shows just how important your wedding photographs should be. All be it an extreme example, but if as photographers we take elements of this into our own work then our brides will be getting the very best from our creativity to make their day that little bit extra special. To follow are a few of my NY images captured on Ilford film to add to the mood which inspires such soulful and adventurous wedding photography in the United States.
