Georges of Worsley: The glamorous new Manchester wedding venue brought to you by Ryan Giggs

George's Dining Room & Bar is the stylish eatery and now wedding reception venue situated in the picturesque location of Worlsey, and owned by Manchester United's Ryan Giggs.

As one of the most photographed Manchester wedding spots George's could not be more perfectly situated as the gorgeous canal side shoot location with its bridges, barges and traditional buildings is literally just across the road. The location is also very close to the popular St Mark's Church.

Matt Collis photography was invited to photograph models Adam and Amy to showcase this venue at their open event this March. The Gown and Suit were on show from the beautiful Isla Jean Boutique

We had a fabulous day using this much sort after location to promote the equally fantastic facilities on offer to couples at George's.

Tip of the week: Part 1. God Bless America .... They sure know how to wedding party!

A US / British wedding at Breadsall Priory, Derbyshire by Matt Collis Photography

To all UK brides to be this week's wedding tip is part one of a series about harnessing the atmosphere that the US inject into weddings seemingly effortlessly.

It's all to do with big smiles, relaxed attitudes, being spontaneous, and for one wonderful day laying aside our awkward British inhibitions and partying hard like nobody is watching.

I'm sure you are all looking at wedding blogs, Pinterest posts, wedding photography, and themes inspired by American websites.  And why are UK brides doing this? Well for the same reason that UK photographers look to the US for inspiration.  Because they are so damn good at making weddings rock!

So here's part 1 of my tales from American weddings.

Part 1:  The Mexican hostage situation

It's Mothering Sunday.  I'm sitting  alone at the bar in a Mexican diner in Brooklyn on a hot, lazy afternoon.  Eating mouth-watering fresh tacos, sipping an expertly mixed margarita and enjoying a well earned afternoon off.

Everything's perfect except one thing.  I'm the wrong side of the Atlantic,  and even though it's the American  Mother's Day and not the British one, I can't  help but feel a little homesick for my family.

Out of nowhere the door bursts open and flooding into the diner with rays of sunshine splintering around them, an unexpected party crashes into this otherwise quiet family scene.

At the head of this well dressed, but unruly invasion party is a bride. She has been kidnapped. Although not against her will.

Her kidnappers are the grooms party, and the bride really should be on her way to the church by now.

'Drinks all Round' This here lady is getting maried! '
The bride is being held ransom to the tune of one margarita and several tequilas. Nobody knows when or indeed if she will be released by her captors. The head hostage taker makes his demands 'Drinks all round. This here lady is getting married' and the whole restaurant  cheers and raises their glasses to the group of strangers who have just sprinkled a little magic into everyone's life including mine.

Even though nobody will ever know who that bride was, where she was getting married,  or if she ever made it to the church on time, for those crazy few minutes every soul  in that diner was a little happier, and became a part of that brides big day.

Genuine Smiles all round at US Weddings!

Having been a guest at American weddings, worked with American couples in the UK, and worked with some wonderful people in fashion in New York,  I can honestly say that if you  think American when planning your wedding  it will sparkle with a little extra magic, love and atmosphere.

How to Use Facebook and Instagram successfully at Your Wedding

Tip of the week : Dispose of your disposables and save a fortune by using Instagram and Facebook

Wouldn't it be wonderful if your wedding day memories could be captured by your guests from there point of view in an informal, personal and fun way.  Just imagine if you could instantly collect together all the images to make one big collection. An album made just for you by the most important people you know, on the most important day of your life. This fun album would compliment the beautiful professional photography you have arranged to cover the big moments perfectly.

"Well that's easy" I hear you say.  "We just buy disposable cameras and put them on every table, Right?".......... Wrong!!!

As a professional photographer I see a lot of money spent on disposable cameras at weddings.  I also see that money going to waste.  Disposable cameras are expensive to buy and even more expensive to process.

Regularly I see these pricey extras treated not as a quirky retro feature at your wedding, but as a toy for restless children meaning that you will end up with a bunch of very expensive, out of focus pictures of table legs, backs of heads and teddy bears. That's if you even manage to collect all the cameras at the end of the party. They end up going home in handbags, kicked about on the floor and at worst in the trash.

Don't use disposable cameras - They aint cheap!

So what's the alternative you say? Smartphones, iPhones, Instagram & Facebook!
The beauty of this way being it's free, it's creative and it's instant.  You have full control of it, and best of all your guests provide the cameras and do the processing for you absolutely free!

Use Facebook and Instagram for your fun photos

How to Facebook and Instagram your wedding:

1.)  On your wedding invites ask your friends to set up an Instagram account. (Don't worry if they don't, you can still Instagram or edit with other apps the pics after they get on to your Facebook if you want).

2.)  Set up a Facebook account or page specifically for your wedding.  Make sure you put the name of this Facebook account on your invites and wedding stationery/itinerary or table plans. Invite your guests to like this page or friend it way before the big day so they can tag your photographs more easily. Update it occasionally to keep it in your friends minds and let them know how your plans are developing.

3.)  Ask your guests (actually insist! It's your wedding day after all!) to use their phones, Instagram and/or Facebook accounts to upload the photographs as they take them throughout the day. Most importantly, your guests need to tag the images with the name of your Facebook wedding page or account. Tagging the images means they all end up exactly where you need them in one safe, secure and downloadable location for you to do with whatever you choose.

So there you have it.  In a very simple way you have saved yourself a lot of time and money to end up with a very impressive and creative collection of extra wedding day memories.
