The problem with driving from Matlock to reach a destination isn't how do I get there, but which route shall I take?
Very much like life we know where we want to get to, but even if we know five ways to reach our goal we still hesitate at which route to take, as we don't know the obstacles we will have to overcome.
Also we know that someone will always say "You shouldn't have gone that way".
Even
if you are adamant you know the quickest route, you
may never have taken that route before on a weekday morning when five
primary schools have conspired against you personally by staggering the
time the Chelsea tractors
drop off at 1 minute intervals just to make you late.
Just then you break away and when you smugly think you have succeeded by taking
the scenic B5023 at rush hour (which is like a VIP countryside corridor to the world)
inevitably that aging farmer on his 'Oh so cute on a wedding photo vintage
tractor' will emerge from behind a hedgerow and pull out on you to trundle along at a less than steady 20mph.
At this point that tractor is now resembling the
rusty, non indicating, couldn't you have waited til after rush hour to visit
Mabel the pig mobile road block that it truly is!
So what is the best route to take, either out of Matlock
or through life, and how much time do we waste sat at the wheel deciding before
we set off?
We may never find the best way, but at least now you
have something to think about whilst you are sat in that traffic jam.
